Day 1: Negombo
Upon your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to Negombo, a coastal town just 20 minutes away. Once you arrive, you can enjoy some free time to explore the area or relax at your hotel. In the evening, you can take a stroll along the scenic Negombo Lagoon and visit the Dutch Fort, which offers insight into Sri Lanka’s colonial history. A visit to St. Mary's Church, known for its beautiful architecture, is also part of the itinerary. You will spend the night in Negombo.
Day 2: Sigiriya
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Sigiriya, a journey of about 4 hours. On the way, you'll have the opportunity to take photos of the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. You’ll also visit Pidurangala Rock for panoramic views of the area. Afterward, you will check into your hotel in Sigiriya and enjoy lunch. The evening is free to relax or explore the area. You will spend the night in Sigiriya.
Day 3: Kandy
After breakfast, you will drive to Kandy, which is about 2.5 hours from Sigiriya. En route, you'll stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is famous for its Buddhist statues and cave paintings, offering a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s spiritual heritage. Upon arrival in Kandy, you will visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most important religious sites in Sri Lanka. In the evening, you can enjoy a traditional cultural dance performance before heading back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 4: Nuwara Eliya
Today, after breakfast, you will drive to Nuwara Eliya, a 2.5-hour
journey. Known as “Little England,” Nuwara Eliya is famous for its cool
climate and colonial-style buildings. You will visit a local tea plantation
and factory to learn about Sri Lanka’s renowned tea production.
Afterward, you can visit Gregory Lake and Victoria Park, both offering
scenic beauty and a relaxing atmosphere. The town itself is a perfect
blend of Sri Lankan culture and British colonial influence. After a day of
sightseeing, you will have dinner and an overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 5: Kataragama
This morning, you will drive to Kataragama, a journey of
approximately 5 hours. Kataragama is one of the most important
pilgrimage sites in Sri Lanka, where Buddhists, Hindus, and
Muslims come to worship. After lunch, you will visit the
Kataragama Temple, a sacred site known for its religious
significance. In the evening, you can attend the optional puja
ceremony, a deeply spiritual experience. You will spend the night
in Kataragama.
Day 6: Colombo
After breakfast, you will drive to Colombo, the bustling capital of Sri
Lanka, which is about 6 hours away. Upon arrival, you will visit some of
the city’s top landmarks, including Galle Face Green, a popular seaside
park; Gangaramaya Temple, a Buddhist temple with a fascinating
collection of artifacts; and Independence Square, which
commemorates Sri Lanka’s independence. You will also have time to
explore the Pettah Market, a vibrant market area. After the day’s
sightseeing, you will have dinner and an overnight stay in Colombo.
Day 7: Depart
On your last day in Sri Lanka, you will have the morning free for
some leisure time. You can either relax at the hotel or take some
time for shopping and sightseeing. In the afternoon, you will be
transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport for your
departure flight, taking with you memories of an unforgettable
journey through Sri Lanka.
