Day 1: Arrival Christchurch (No Meals)
Upon arrival in Christchurch, you’ll be met and transferred privately to your accommodation. Christchurch is a vibrant city, set between the deep blue Pacific Ocean and the majestic Southern Alps. The city is known for its inner-city parks and gardens, with the Avon River meandering through the heart of the town. Overnight in Christchurch. (Note: Departures must be on Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays, or Wednesdays to accommodate the reduced transport schedule on the West Coast.)
Day 2: Christchurch - Greymouth (Breakfast)
This morning, transfer to Christchurch Railway Station for the iconic Tranz Alpine Train. The train journey takes you across the expansive Canterbury Plains and through the dramatic gorge of the Waimakariri River, before reaching Arthur’s Pass National Park. Upon arrival in Greymouth, you will be transferred to the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. Enjoy a short, self-guided walk to view the fascinating rock formations. Afterward, transfer to your accommodation. Overnight in Greymouth.
Day 3: Greymouth - Franz Josef (Breakfast)
Today, depart Greymouth for Franz Josef, home to the famous glaciers. The temperate climate at a low altitude makes the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers among the easiest to visit in the world. Explore the stunning Glacier Country and the West Coast temperate rainforest on a guided nature tour. Marvel at the dramatic landscape that bears the scars of ancient glaciers. Overnight in Franz Josef.
Day 4: Franz Josef - Queenstown (Breakfast)
Depart Franz Josef this morning for Queenstown, journeying through
wilderness towns, waterfalls, and picturesque river scenery. The road
leads you to Queenstown, an alpine resort town known for its
magnificent vistas, majestic mountains, and vibrant atmosphere.
Queenstown is famous as the Adventure Capital of the World, offering
endless outdoor activities for all types of travelers. Overnight in
Queenstown. (Note: This service operates only on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays, and Saturdays.)
Day 5: Queenstown (Breakfast)
This morning, you have free time to explore Queenstown and
take advantage of the many optional activities available. In the
afternoon, head to Arrowtown, a charming historic settlement,
and enjoy the surrounding scenic vistas. Choose to stay in
Queenstown for the evening, or return to your accommodation
for a restful night. Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 6: Queenstown - Milford Sound - Queenstown (Breakfast)
Fiordland is one of the world’s last great wilderness areas, and today’s tour
will take you into the heart of this natural beauty. Pass by mirror lakes and
waterfalls as you travel into Milford Sound, a fiord carved by ice age glaciers
and often described as the “eighth wonder of the world.” Upon arrival,
embark on a scenic cruise through the fiord, surrounded by towering cliffs
and mountains. Experience the refreshing spray from waterfalls as your boat
cruises close to sheer rock faces. Afterward, return to Queenstown by coach.
Lunch is included. Duration: approx. 12 hours. Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 7: Queenstown - Mt Cook/Tekapo - Christchurch (Breakfast)
Depart Queenstown today, traveling through the stunning Kawarau Gorge and
the Cromwell wine region. Continue along beautiful Lake Dunstan, then journey
through Lindis Pass to the Mackenzie District. Here, you’ll be treated to
spectacular views of Aoraki Mt Cook, the tallest mountain in New Zealand. Stop
at Mt Cook Village for some free time, and later visit the Church of the Good
Shepherd at Lake Tekapo. Continue your scenic journey to Christchurch,
passing through picturesque countryside along the way. Duration: approx. 13
hours. Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 8: Depart Christchurch (Breakfast)
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Christchurch Airport for
your departure flight.
